Thank you to all of our families who joined me on Monday at Back to School Night. It is always a pleasure to connect. If you were unable to attend here is the link to the slide show. Please let me know if you have any questions.
We started our NWEA assessments this week. This data will show us where each student is starting out second grade and allow us to measure their growth throughout the year. We also completed our first math checkpoint to check for understanding of the first half of unit one.
Thank you for the snack donations! They are a blessing to our class.
Morning Meeting
Our “Would you rather…?” question was, would you rather have the power to be invisible or to fly? We do P2 in the morning. We do the news and on Friday there are puppets.
~Molly, Ruthie, Connor
P2-Teamwork
We work together to make a team! We sit and play fun games! We put a dot on our heads, but we can’t know what color it is and we can’t talk. We always have a way to solve problems as a team,
~Daphne, Sophia, Nella, Garrett
Math
We did NWEA test for math. We did “What’s behind my back?” We also did this game with cards within 20. We did a packet. Math is so good for your brain!
~Grace, Margo, Santiago, Armand
Reading-Daily 5
We have book boxes that hold our books. We can read to someone or read to self. When you read to self, you are quiet. When you read to someone you are whispering. When you are doing read to self you have to be quiet, because when you are noisy it makes other people not focus.
~Madeline, Kenna
Writing
We write lists. We write about nicknames and foods that are crunchy. We also write about math.
~Tendaji, Madison, Natalie, Mark
Science
We saved Bobby from falling to the ground. Bobby is a bobby pin. We made Bobby go to recess. We tested Bobby falling from a high view. We made paper parachutes for Bobby.
~Riley, Brooke, Dawson, Abby
