 Happy Thanksgiving!

We are looking forward to celebrating all that we are thankful for here at school next week. We will also complete assessments to celebrate what we have learned this first trimester. I am thankful for each student and family in this class. You are all truly blessings!

P2- Bravery

“I was brave to do my covid test.”

“I used bravery to get my covid shot.”

Math

We played the target number game and subtracted with two-digit numbers. We also took away 76-38 and we traded a ten from 76 and it was 38. We used base-ten blocks.

Reading-Daily 5

In reading this week, we read Why Spiders Have Small Waists. Anansi loves food and sings a song everyday. He thinks he is clever, but he is not always clever.

~Connor, Armand, Riley

Science

First we went outside and we got leaves. We got a crayon. We folded paper and we put the leaf in there. After we colored it, we had to write something we are thankful for. We made masterpieces. We had fun!

 We are thankful for you!

Happy November! We worked hard on adding and subtracting to solve problems this week. We also practiced our reading rate with reader’s theater ending with a performance for Mrs. DeVore’s fourth grade class. Visualizing helped us analyze characters in our reading. Every student met their Core5 Lexia goal this week! Great work second graders! In science, we started our Animal Adventures unit and learned how scientists group animals by characteristics.

Next week we will dig deeper into subtraction methods and subtracting with two-digit numbers. We will have half-days on Thursday and Friday.

Have a restful weekend! I’m looking forward to learning with you next week!
