                                                     Happy Last Week

We have worked hard continuing our learning and completing end of the year assessments. Next week we will finish our math unit on arrays and our novel study of My Father’s Dragon. We will celebrate the amazing year of learning and growth we have shared. Thank you again for sharing your precious children with me. It has been an honor and a joy to work with them!

Next year I will have the opportunity to teach third grade at E.P. Clarke, and while I will miss our Brown School family, I am so excited for this next adventure. I am updating the pictures on my classroom signs. If you and your child are comfortable with their picture appearing in my classroom, please fill out this form

Here is the link the class requested to BreakoutEdu. Your child should be able to log-in with Google Classroom.

Have a wonderful summer!

Tomorrow I will be collecting chromebooks, chargers, and chromebook sleeves. Reminder library slips will also come home tomorrow afternoon.

We are excited to learn more about the history of St. Joseph on our field trip this Friday.

*Please sen $2 with your child by Wednesday this week to cover the cost of riding the carousel.*

* Please also respond to this lunch survey for the field trip.*

Reading

During Daily 5, we read about transportation in the past and the present. WE are reading Charlotte's Web. We are almost done and Wilbur is going to win something. We are making predictions. Lots of kids like the book.

Math

We finished the end of unit 7 on Thursday. We learned to add and subtract within 1,000, using base ten blocks and composing/decomposing 10s and 100s. We took an assessment and did IXL.

Writing

We are writing opinion paragraphs. We could write anything we wanted, but it had to be an opinion paragraph.  We made webs, wrote our paragraphs, highlighted reasons and details, and checked our spelling. We could write about things we love or don’t love.

Science

We started a new unit. We are learning about plants. We thought about how a seed can go around the world like the Koa trees. We made seeds with paper and tested them to see if they fly. We also learned about superblooms, when a lot of flowers bloom.

We are continuing to work hard and learn many new important skills in these last weeks of school. In math, we are applying strategies for adding and subtracting three digit numbers. Ask your child to explain the strategies they prefer to use and check out their work on SeeSaw. Our new science unit is on plants and their needs. Do you know what a super bloom is? We are completing our opinion writing with a personal strong opinion piece.

On the morning of Friday, May 27th, we will go downtown to see the Memorial Day Parade and tour our town. If you would like to join us, please send me an email and make sure to have a current background check on file with the office.

Library book reminders will come home on Monday. Please make every effort to return all materials as the library staff is preparing for end of the year inventory.

 Happy Mother’s Day!

I am so proud of  each of  our performers. They were fantastic  in their musical  performance!

Thank you for all of the appreciation and support you showed me over the last week and all year long! It has been a blessing to work alongside you this school year!

We will be using our headphones in music class Monday afternoons. If your child brings their headphones home, please be sure to have them come back to school on Tuesdays.

Thank you for the supply donations to carry us through the end of the school year!

We had a fun and productive week back from spring break! I hope you were all able to relax and be refreshed.

Unfortunately, I will be out this week for a hernia repair. I plan to return next Monday, April 25. Mrs. Kristalyn Becker will be learning with our class this week. Please let the office know or send a note to school if there will be any changes in pick-up routines. Thank you for understanding!

Thank you so much for making sure computers are charged each night! Next week we will be using them daily for NWEA assessments.

Here is a website with all the information for our upcoming musical. If you have any questions please reach out to Ms. Mc at rmcelroy@sjschools.org
